Application
'Ahem'
I am available,
I have no home,
No friends,
And no immediate prospects.
Not to give you a hard luck story,
But things have not been going so well for me
lately,
I had a nice family,
But the old lady died,
And the man hated Cats,
So out I went.
You can see I know how to look after myself,
Though I don't know for how much longer,
In a filthy street,
And no decent place to clean up,
I've been used to good things.
House broken? Of course,
Completely,
I am rather loyal.
I would be your cat-
Show it, I mean,
When people come to visit,
By making a fuss over you,
And responding when you called me.
I'm not too finicky about food,
Food! Oh dear!
My stomach is empty,
And my heart is desolate,
I'm not meant to be a street cat,
Or make myself a furtive shadow,
In an alley,
I'm lonely, lonely, lonely,
And frightened!
Please may I come in.

The Catnip dance
Oh the catnip dance, the catnip dance,
Come and join the catnip dance,
Leap in the air, and then touch down,
And away we go around and around,
Fly away, fly away, higher and higher,
With a catnip flame and a catnip fire,
Roll in the catnip,
Jig in the catnip,
Pirouette and dance,
Come along, come along, come along,
All cats join in the catnip dance.

Not on the Bed
Puss in the corner,
Puss on the stairs,
Puss in the basket,
Puss on the chairs,
Puss in the pantry,
Puss in the shed,
Puss may go anywhere,
But not on the Bed!

The Wizard
Dog, beware!
For I am a great wizard,
Who has turned himself into a beast,
One hundred cubits tall,
With jaws that gape,
And teeth more fearful than the fangs,
of ancient dragons,
My claws are like scythes,
That armed the wheels of warrior chariots,
My eyes flash fire,
I exhale poisonous smoke,
And could devour you at a bite,
Dog if you are wise, you will agree,
Do not account me,
A small and timid creature,
Arching it's back to try and frighten you,
Just go away and do not compel me,
To break my spell,
And retire up a tree.
(Paul Gallico)
