A Cats Prayer

Lead me down all the right paths

Keep me from fleas, Bees and baths.

Let me in should it storm,

Keep me safe fed and warm.

Let the sun shine where I lay,

Keep me young so I may play.

And most of all.......

Bless the people I adore,

And guard me from the dog next door.

Lisa Malone(american poet)

You see the beauty of the world,

Through eyes of unalloyed content,

And in my study chair upcurled,

Move me to pensive wonderment.

I wish I knew your trick of thought,

The perfect balance of your ways,

They seem an inspiration caught,

From other laws in older days.

ANONYMOUS

She moved through the garden in glory because,

She had very long claws at the end of her paws,

Her neck was arched her tail was high,

A green fire glared in her vivid eye;

And all the Toms, though never so bold,

Quailed at the marital Marigold.

RICHARD GARNETT (ENGLISH WRITER)

The Cat went here and there,

And the moon spun round like a top,

And the nearesr kin of the moon,

The creeping Cat, looked up

Black minnaloushe stared at the moon,,

For, wander and wail as he would,

The pure cold light in the sky,

Troubled his animal blood.

Minnaloushe runs in the grass,

Lifting his delicate feet.

Do you dance Minnaloushe,

Do you dance?

WILLIAM BUTLER YEATS (IRISH POET)

The Honouable Cat

I am Cat,

I have pride,

I have dignity,

And I have memory,

For I am older than you.

I am older than your gods; the tree gods, the stone gods,

The thunder and lightning  and the sun gods,

And your god of love,

I too can love,

But with only half a heart,

And that I offer you,

Accept what I am able to give,

For were I to give you all,

I could not bear your inevitable treachery,

Let us remain Honourable friends.

(Paul Gallico)

Pride

I am a champion,

And win prizes at exhibitions,

In my opinion, I am the best damn Cat,

In the whole show.

And any judge who doesn't agree is blind,

Look at me,

I am perfect,

Arrogance?

Not at all,

Self knowledge,

No false modesty here,

I know your pious quotation,

'Pride go'eth before a fall'

How very middle class,

Where pride is based on such a one as me,

There can be no fall,

So don't waste your time waiting for it.

(Paul Gallico)
