Arty Cats

Cats have been the muse to some of the greatestest of all time, cats have been the inspiration to the great ' impressionists' and 'Old Masters' even the 'Modernists' have used them as inspiration. Here are a few taken from the book 'Arty Cats' by David Baird and the beautful paintings of Vicky Cox.

Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, the celebrated impressionist painter is mainly remembered for his paintings of French cafe life, here is a cat getting in on the scene.

Symbolists and surrealists

Oh yes the feline was a great inspiration to the surrealists style of painting as well. The great artist Leon Bakst, best known for his collaborations with the great Sergei Diaghilev and the famous Ballet Ruse.

The Scream

 The scream was painted by the modernist painter Edvard Munch, I think this cat here was his real inspiration for the original painting.
